Daydreaming in Class

After only three weeks of school is it more than obvious that the small desk/my grandmothers old sewing table is not going to cut it for our home study days. It is very small and doesn't have allot of storage. I see the need in not only a bigger desk but a separate classroom area, something to separate us from the rest of the house. A room the Poopoo and Slinky can walk into and know that its time to learn.
We have a fourth bedroom/ hoarding room that I dream of soon transforming into the perfect homeschool classroom, first I must take care of the mounds of junk being stored in there. I would take a before picture but it would be way to embarrassing!
I received my Pottery Barn Kids magazine in the mail the other day and i could feel my wheels starting to spin just by looking at the cover. Its no secret Pottery Barn has the coolest classroom furniture there is, but its also not in this frugal mommas budget! Here are a couple inspiration pics.

Where do I start the Supply storage on picture one, the extremely awesome work desk on page two. Imagine both the boys being able to work face to face, the incredibly cute chevron rug on picture three, or the chalkboard/ wipe board combo on page four. I love all these ideas the challenge is finding a way to put it together in a similar and cheaper fashion.
I also had this neat idea of making a solar system out of paper lanterns to hang from the ceiling. I think this will be a fun, cheap project that will have a huge impact.

Hopefully I can get started soon and turn my classroom daydream into a reality:)

Make it yourself Monday

Not only is the September issue off All You magazine filled with lots of great coupons but it is filled with fun crafty ideas for Halloween. I just loved the pumpkin snowman. I decided to use fake pumpkins so it would last longer. I bought my pumpkins at Micheal's for 50% off, I payed $15 for both Pumpkins. T0 carve my jack-o-lantern I used a carving kit I bought on clearance last year after the holiday.

First thing I did was carve my face for the top of the pumpkin snowman.
Next I used a hot glue gun to glue the head to the body pumpkin.
Finally I poked two holes in each side of the pumpkin, using a glue gun to secure place a stick in each hole. (I got my stick from my front yard)
I placed him in a flower pot so that he would be more stable and stand a little taller.

Just Call Me Martha

With the lack of great deals lately I have had a little extra time on my hands to be crafty. I love anything that is creative, every time I see something neat someone else has made I cant help but examine it and try to figure out how I could make it myself. The other day my mother and I went to take a tour of this big Beautiful $1.5 million dollar house that is being sold to benefit the local children's hospital. This cause is close to my heart because all the profit goes to the NICU, my son spent the first two weeks of his life in the NICU so I really think this is awesome! Several Local vender's donate time and money to make this house possible. While touring this incredible house I came across several really cool cross candles. Of coarse I examined it and took some pictures of it. These sell for around $45 WOW!Yesterday I went by Hobby Lobby (my favorite place) and picked up supplies to make my own cross candle. I spent a total of $8.00 on all my supplies. I was so pleased with the way these turned out and think this is a great idea for Christmas gifts!

Thrifty Thursdays

This is a project I did awhile back, let me tell you the storey behind it first. One of my best girlfriends lives in a big fancy house, her husband is a custom home builder so you can only imagine the beautiful details. In every room she has one wall custom painted to a certain theme. Every time I leave her house I am inspired to go home and fix up my tiny little house. I decide to copy her walls by attempting to paint a few walls in my house myself. I am a very crafty person but I can not even draw a stick figure so had was in for a challenge. I went to Hobby Lobby (my absolute favorite) and picked up a stencil and brushes then I stopped by home depot for paint. First let me show you her walls (I hope you don't mind Ginny).....

Aren't her walls AWESOME! To have someone come in and custom paint you walls can start at around $300 and go way up from there. My walls cost me a total of around $50 for both walls, there not as good as her beautiful custom walls but they look pretty darn good if you ask me!

Happy Thrifty Thursday!!!!

Better Homes and Blogging

Every Sunday I am Hosting Better Homes and Blogging, Its show and tell time! I love to decorate just as much as I love saving money and blogging. Every time I see my favorite pieces in my house it makes me smile and really feel at home.I have added Mister Linky at the bottom of this post. I would love for you to share your favorite decorations, pieces of furniture, favorite spaces, your beautiful garden, crafty decorating ideas, or just pictures that inspire your home decor......

This is one of my favorite pieces in my whole house, my English Dresser. This dresser was given to me by one of my clients, she was remodeling her kitchen and trying to find this English dresser a new home. I had always wanted one of these and always keep an eye out for one that was at a decent price. So when she asked me if I was interested I was super excited. This is a piece that will be with me forever!
