Chutes and Sight Words

I love trying to find fun ways to learn our sight words. Poopoo loves board games and always begging me to play them. Lightbulb! Why not make a board game out of our sight words.  I was going to use a chutes and ladders game board but I was to cheap to spend $14 to buy one, so I bought a project board instead and cut it in half. Using makers I drew out my game board, for the words I used sticker label that I cut in half, for our game pieces we used Lego figurines and I stole dice from and old game. It was pretty simple to put together and Poopoo was super excited to play!

Daydreaming in Class

After only three weeks of school is it more than obvious that the small desk/my grandmothers old sewing table is not going to cut it for our home study days. It is very small and doesn't have allot of storage. I see the need in not only a bigger desk but a separate classroom area, something to separate us from the rest of the house. A room the Poopoo and Slinky can walk into and know that its time to learn. 

We have a fourth bedroom/ hoarding room that I dream of soon transforming into the perfect homeschool classroom, first I must take care of the mounds of junk being stored in there. I would take a before picture but it would be way to embarrassing!

I received my Pottery Barn Kids magazine in the mail the other day and i could feel my wheels starting to spin just by looking at the cover. Its no secret Pottery Barn has the coolest classroom furniture there is, but its also not in this frugal mommas budget! Here are a couple inspiration pics.

Where do I start the Supply storage on picture one, the extremely awesome work desk on page two. Imagine both the boys being able to work face to face, the incredibly cute chevron rug on picture three, or the chalkboard/ wipe board combo on page four. I love all these ideas the challenge is finding a way to put it together in a similar and cheaper fashion. 

I also had this neat idea of making a solar system out of paper lanterns to hang from the ceiling. I think this will be a fun, cheap project that will have a huge impact.

Hopefully I can get started soon and turn my classroom daydream into a reality:)

2 Days Without Nookie!!!

You heard me right I spent two days without  Nookie, aka my beloved Nook! I left it at my shop and instead of driving the 15 minutes to retrieve it, I toughed it out, Not easy I might add! I am currently reading Redeeming Love by Francis River, another book that came highly recommended by several clients. Being only half way threw Im loving it. Such a sweet story about how God loves all his children no matter how great their sins. When I read this book the verse Matthew 11:28 comes to my mind. 

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

 I can't give you full review of this book  since I haven't finished it yet but believe me this is one I will like to talk about! Anyway no need for anymore PANIC my Nookie is back home safe and sound with me :)

Frugal Friday Farming

Despite the rainy weather we decided to hop in the car and head out to Mamaw & Papaws farm. My boys love running around out in  the country. Mamaw and Papaw have chickens and two donkeys named Billy Bootstrap and Will Turner. Even thought there was a steady drizzle all day we had a blast riding tractors and feeding the donkeys. Our boots always come home in bags with all the mud and dirt these crazy little farm boys kick up:)
