Lisa over at Living Easy wrote a post about this month of September being National Coupon Month! I don't know about you but why this isn't head line news is beyond me. Clipping coupons has been a life changing experience for us. Not only does my little family of 3 eat like kings and save tons of money but we have also felt the impact in many other ways. So in honor of National Coupon month I thought it would be fun to post a little coupon facts......
In 1887 Coca-Cola issued the first coupon for Free samples of there drink
In 1895 C.W. Post distributes the first grocery coupon worth 1 cent toward his new health cereal, Grape Nuts.
In the 1930s coupons become a staple in American households during the Depression.
In 1965 one half of American shoppers use coupons.
In 1975 more than 35 billion coupons are distributed; 65 percent of American households clip.
In the 1980s electronic "purchase triggered" coupons are available at checkout; early retail "frequent shopper" programs and electronic discounts reward shoppers for store loyalty.
In 1998 America celebrates the first National Coupon Month.
In 2006 71 percent of young adults (age 18-24) use coupons.
