A Saginaw mother of five uses coupons to cash in at the grocery store
By ALYSON WARD
Have you priced a gallon of milk lately? Seriously, it’s neck-and-neck with a gallon of gas. With grocery prices going up, we’ve all started wincing at the checkout counter. And spending more than ever.
Well, actually — don’t let this make you feel like a sucker, but Ruth Garrett isn’t.
The Saginaw mother of five clipped coupons for years, saving 35 cents here, 50 cents there. But a few years ago, when she realized her family was spending $200 a week on groceries, Garrett decided to get serious about coupons. Now she’s a pro. And thanks to her crazy coupon skills, she can bring home groceries, personal-care products and household necessities for herself, her husband, her five children, three cats and a dog, all for $70 a week. Tops.

My Favorite Things
My Favorite thing this week is our Weather Alert Radio. My husband had saw this being mentioned on the news and decided to go out and purchase one at Walgreens for $5.00. The Weather Alert Radio lets you know when you are under any warnings for severe weather. When a tornado, Flash flood, or thunderstorm warning is issued in our county an alarm goes of followed by a voice telling you what type of warning you are under.
I placed my weather radio on my night stand, hidden behind a lamp. I sleep much better knowing its there in case a tornado warning is issued in the middle of the night.

My Favorite Things
Its Tuesday again which means its time for My Favorite Things at Fiddledeedee.
My favorite thing this week is my handy Scrubber sponge on a stick. I bought this cleaning scrubber when I was pregnant and couldn't lean over our garden bathtub to clean it. I love this scrubber sponge it is shaped perfect to get into corners and the extender handle helps me get up high in the shower. I no longer get on my knees and lay over the tub to clean it. This scrubber make cleaning showers and tubs easy easy easy!!! I purchased my scrubber at Wal-mart for around $10 I know that seem high but believe me it is worth every single penny!
